The folks in England were using it to inform their prayers for the propagation of the gospel among the Heathen. It also seems likely that the promises (nearly 100) recorded by Edwards were also pleaded by people seeking a renewal for the Church in the Western world, and the result was the Second Great Awakening. Both Great Awakenings were two of the greatest events in Church History sice the time of our Lord. Could it be another look at Humble Attempt along with pleading the promises there might, conceivably, be the means to a Third Great Awakening, one that takes the whole earth for Christ in one generation and even for a 1000 more generations that the promises to Abraham and to the Son of God might have a most literal fulfillment, a number no man can number like the stars of Heaven and the sand by the seashore? Some have been praying for such for 36 years, some over 50 years, and others, who knows? And the method for winning the whole world a liberal, open-minded, open-handed generosity of goodness that wins by infecting others with the thought of such great goodness...like the beauty of some flowers that I saw in the last year in a photo and a photo of a sunset in Hawaii taken by a talented artist. Some have accused the God of the Bible of megalamania, but suppose He is of such beauty and goodness and holiness and etc. to such a degree that the human frame in its present condition literally could not stand such a sight and manifestation and would be destroyed by it. But suppose that like the sun rising in its glory gradually. Then the human frame could adjust to such revelation. To what degree, I do not know. However, it could be to such degree that peace would come upon the whole earth and people would learn war no more and a millenium of the greatest goodness possible under present human limitations is likely.
