Christian Book Notes

This week’s winner was Dwayne Ewers of Louisville, Ky. He has served as a pastor in rural Kentucky and is currently employed by the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Congratulations, Dwayne.

We are mulling over the idea of reading Pilgrim’s Progress as a group and having some discussions on the Christian Book Notes Facebook fan page. If anyone is interested in participating, please become a fan and let us know. We are looking for at least 10 people to commit to reading Pilgrim’s Progress together beginning sometime in February.

I would like to thank everyone who entered the Don Whitney Winsday Giveaway contest sponsored by christianaudio, NavPress, Moody Publishers, and the Center for Biblical Spirituality.  While I truly wish everyone could win, I realize that this is not possible (I am just too small an operation right now, but if you tell your friends to subscribe, maybe some day…).  I am; however,  excited about who won.  It is amazing to see God’s sovereignty in the smaller things in life.

• Noah Lee (1st Prize) – Noah is the pastor of Tremont Baptist Church in Tremont, IL (about 2-3 hours north of where I grew up).
• Jason Smathers (1st Prize) – Jason is about to begin attending Golden Gate Baptist Church in California in the spring.  He also teaches an adult Bible study and leads worship on Sunday evenings in his local church body.
• Peter Schott (2nd Prize) – Peter is a volunteer everything in his local church, Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where he helps extensively in all areas of technology as well as singing in the choir and helping to lead the worship team.  He is also going to be donating his prize to others in his church because he owns them already.
• Will Pershing (3rd Prize) – Will maintains a blog entitled Life Interrupted.
• Caleb Barrett (4th Prize) – Caleb and his wife maintain the blog, Looking at the World with Little Eyes and teaches older teens and college-aged students on Sunday mornings.  He is passionate about getting them involved in the life and ministry of the local church.
